Breyer Animal Creations has been making model horses for nearly 60 years. The world of Breyer has expanded to appeal to a broad range of ages and to make getting started in Breyer easier. The basic Breyer horse is called the Traditional Series, and these 1:9-scale models are incredibly lifelike. To get a younger child started in Breyer, consider the Classics line. Classics are slightly smaller, 1:12 scale, and they are a good way to get a variety of breeds and color patterns. Although not generally based on any particular living horse, many classical literary horses, such as Stormy, Misty, Flicka, and others, are available as Classics. The 1:32-scale Stablemates Collection includes both individual horses as well as many complete play sets. Breyer Stablemates play sets are terrific value.
